Use Cases

Using XPRESSmp™ for Real-Time Sentiment Analysis and Visualization of Social Media Content

Challenges Addressed:

  • Low latency processing
  • Massive data ingest
  • Massive scalability
  • Data visualization and optimization
  • Push broadcasting

An international film and media company wants to track and view global consumer response to the release of its blockbuster movies—by monitoring social media content in real-time, applying sentiment analysis, and streaming the results to live dashboards for immediate visualization. It also wants the ability to see all the content in real-time, in one place.

XPRESSmp ingests events from the social media firehoses (Twitter and Facebook) that mention the relevant movie(s), and runs queries from a sentiment analysis application against the incoming data. "Sentiment value" is determined, and the results are streamed to a dashboard showing (1) the total volume of negative or positive mentions of the film, and (2) the actual content itself (tweets and posts) in real-time.

This gives the company an always-current insight into product and brand sentiment, and XPRESSmp keeps pace and scales with the volume of social media mentions.
